The Beauty of the Afterwards

The wife writes:

Have you ever experienced the beauty of being together after being disciplined, when the dark clouds that hung over the relationship are gone, blown away by the cleansing of the discipline, and the sun comes out again to shine on a couple’s renewed love and devotion?

Well, I have, and it was a glorious experience. Let me try to relate it to you as best as I can.

Authoritaet und Liebe

Who grew up in the 1970s and 80s in (West) Germany - for the former GDR I do not like talking about - who knows a thing or two about anti-authoritaerer education. Rules were frowned upon and were limited within the minimum necessary; Mass arrangements were also frowned upon, and if there had to be times "gespustet out of the nest" then, as my dear mother used to say, then so a guilty conscience was always associated, at least in Nachherein . Instead limits and instructions have been with children, already small children, argues and built on their cooperation - even if they were still too young to understand what was expected of them since. In plain language, children were run.

Kissing Your Master's Feet

If your husband asked you to kiss his feet, would you do it ? Would he have to threaten you with discipline in order for you to do it ? Do you think it is something that goes too far ?

If you are a Christian wife, you shouldn't think that way, for two main reasons.

The first reason is that you should not question your husband in his decisions. Kissing his feet is not sin, that's obvious, so if he asks you to do that, there is no reason to rebel against his request. Rebellion is sin. Kissing feet is not.

The second reason is the biblical example you have for a woman kissing a man's feet, out of gratitude, love, caring, devotion. The woman is a sinner and does this to Jesus, to show her love for Him and to show Him that He is very special for her, and that she trusts Him and His saving grace - How right she was in showing Jesus this thankfulness, love and devotion !

"And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment." (Luk 7:37-38)

No, the woman doing that is not married to the man she does it for, but the attitude she shows is exemplatory for our love to our respective husbands. No, our husbands are not Jesus, nor are they to be treated as if they were gods, but the attitude is still the same.

Maybe you should not wait to ask for your husband to kiss his feet... Maybe you should just go ahead and do it without him needing to ask for it... Be thankful for all that your good husband does for you, Christian wife, and show your gratitude !

The Benefit of Domestic Discipline for Me as a Wife

It has become a little uncommon these days for a wife to submit to her husband in every respect. In fact, most men these days seem to have trouble controlling their wives. What a shame.

These women do not know what they are missing out on. They do not know the benefit of having a husband who takes his responsibility seriously.

Christian Domestic Discipline has many advantages for a wife indeed. It helps in many ways.

For one, if you agree to Christian Domestic Discipline (have you seen the CDD Contract my husband posted ?), you know exactly what to expect when things go wrong. You know what your place is in the marriage - that of a help meet, not that of a leader - and you accept the guidance of your husband in becoming a completely godly woman, as much as humanly possible. If you fail to live up to the standard, you are punished. It's that simple.

Another aspect is that of firm leadership. A husband who does not fear responsibility and rules his house with a firm hand ensures that there are no doubts about where the house should go and what is expected of every member. The house rules help to keep things well known to everybody, so that the house runs as smoothly as a well-oiled sewing machine.

When it comes to being spanked itself, yes, of course, it hurts, and it is not a nice experience, but very unpleasant. It should hurt, too, it's not a game after all. But when it is over, it is over, and you can start over and do better in whichever area it was that you failed. In other households, something that bothers the husband might be a smoldering issue for days, weeks or even years, and it leads to frustration for everybody. After spanking, however, the air is clear again, just as we read in the bible:

"Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby." (Heb 12:11)

The peacable fruit of righteousness: You can make good again what you screwed up, so to speak, since you know exactly what went wrong and now you can pay extra attention to it in order to avoid making the same mistake again. In the long run, it leads to you being a better help meet and better mother in every respect.

I think this only has advantages. I am glad too that I am not a man and not the one who has to do it, but that I am the one who benefits from it. We know what women are like since the beginning, since Eve in the garden we know what the main problem of women is. I am glad that my husband holds me accountable for what I do and not do, so that with his help I can fight the sinful nature we are cursed with since the Fall.
