Proper Implements for Punishment

I've been pondering as to what exactly is the best instrument to utilize for correction of my wife. Up until now I have been using my hand on her bare butt and nothing more, and yet it seems as though at times this is hardly effective at all. I stick with three swats, and no more than that, but using my hand has not been completely effective in helping my wife overcome her negative habits, and so I am considering alternatives.

Other possibilities are a plastic ruler (the yardstick broke), a hairbrush, or a small rod (switch) from one of the maples in the back yard. I am thinking to give the maple a try and see how that goes. I wonder what everyone else uses.

Rebellion is as the Sin of Witchcraft

"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry." (1Sa 15:23)

My wife read a discussion in a group the other night about a wife that asked other women for help. That wife didn't want to follow her husband's lead concerning modest dress and some other biblical matter that she claimed her husband did not want to study. She vented that her husband had his mind made up about it and was unwilling to look any further, though his opinion was based on corrupted Scripture, and that she could not help but teach her daughters the word of God anyway. This lady feared that her husband's inconsistency would breed rebellion in her daughters...

Wow ! And guess what ? Most of the women answering supported this lady in her ways ! Only one lady mentioned 1 Peter 3:1-7, but nobody agreed with her, at least openly, and they even called her arrogant and got upset because she dared to say that obviously the lady asking for help had a rebellion issue herself ! This lady knows her husband doesnt want their daughters to be taught in a certain way, and she tries anyway....and asks other women for advice, and these other women really want to encourage her to be rebellious.

It was overly obvious to me and my wife that of course this lady was rebellious. She thought she understood the bible better than her husband. She said she could not help but teach God's word to the children in one particular matter, against the expressed will of their father. She said he was inconsistent, but what about herself ? Who is the head of the house ? Who is responsible for the spiritual education of the children and the wife alike ? Who is the one who will be held responsible for it all by God in the end ? It's my duty to be aware of what my family does, and to protect the family, including grown adult wives, from the negative influences of others. Another "little General" running around trying to command the troops leads to confusion and such !

So, if she were my wife, and I caught her doing these things, I would punish her, that simple. Let me list the reasons:

#1, she would have been spanked for turning to a group of women for support without telling me. That's a serious issue indeed.  If it were me, I would be aware of what the wife is doing online, who she is interacting with and so forth. I certainly am in my own house.

#2, she would have been spanked for speaking bad about me in front of these women, claiming that her understanding of Scripture was superior to mine. That's Eve's sin all over again, and only excuses her rebellion really. She should b a helpmeet, not the guide.

#3, she would have been spanked for being rebellious in her whole attitude. That man had clear ideas about the way his wife and daughters dressed, he had clear ideas about other scriptural matters, and she would teach the children that their father's opinion was not in accordance with Scripture, according to her own assessment - well, how much more rebellious can you get ? She tries to usurp authority !

#4, she would have been spanked for calling me inconsistent and blaming any potential rebellion in my daughters on me. She is the one who is to teach the daughters, by example, what it means to be obedient to your husband (and father). She doesn't do that, obviously. I am the one who is to teach them Scripture, but she tries to take it out of my hands. And the bible calls this sin, as bad as witchcraft.

Now you tell me if she would not have deserved spanking... Most of those women on that group obviously need a good spanking, actually, for encouraging one of their "sisters" in her rebellion against her husband !

Christian men, take the lead, do not commit Adam's sin, and do not let your wives commit Eve's sin all over again !

This Is How We Do It

In our family, disciplining me, the wife, is done by spanking.

My husband spanks me if I stray from the way of God in some fashion.

If I go astray, my husband has to ensure that this disobedience does not put the whole house in danger. So he will inform me that because of my sin against God, I will be disciplined.

As a next step, I have to reflect on my sin, studying Scripture to make sure I understand what I have done wrong, and then I have to write a confession. This confession is printed, signed, and read to my husband. The confession has to be public too, that is, published on the family blog or website, for example.

Between the sin and the chastening, a day at least passes, so that I have time for the reflection and to write the confession without neglecting my usual chores and duties. It also ensures that I am not spanked in anger.

When my husband finally spanks me, he does it with three slaps on my bare behind with his hand, while I am standing bent over, and am completely undressed.

Between the slaps, I have to answer his questions concerning what I have done, and what was wrong about it, and whether I will do it again. I have to answer his questions according to my sin, my confession and my repentance.

If I do not learn from the first chastening and sin again in the same field, the slaps will be doubled for me.

Taking It Way Too Far

I do not read much about CDD online. As a wife, my primary chores are house keeping, and I do not browse the internet when my husband is not there with me.

But today he sent me a link to look at, it was a blog of another lady who wrote about punishment. She wrote about it generally speaking and also in practical detail, and I cried when I read it.

Her attitude was that of an obedient housewife, but the spanking she described was so bad that I cannot see anymore how that kind of treatment can be related to anything she might have done... She says that she deserves it, but to me, the whole procedure looks much more like a power thing, with the goal of humiliating her rather than punishing.

We will all pay for our sins before God one day. The husband's role down here is to remind his wife of what is expected of her, and to discipline her if needed so that he can help her to follow God's word better, but not to take God's punishment out of God's hands, so to speak.

The humiliation lies already in having failed before the husband and God, at least that is what I feel in such situations, and the mere fact that spanking is needed is worst of all, for it convicts me of a failure.

The spanking as such should not be what we fear, but our own weaknesses and failures.

Biblical Foundations of CDD

God ensures obedience in His people, and so does a husband in his house.

"My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth." (Pro 3:11-12)

This verse shows that the husband has this responsibility indeed. Rebuke and chastening is necessary if the wife you love goes the wrong way, or slackens in her attempts to be fully submissive and obedient. God does that with His people all the time, for we all need to overcome our post-fall sinful nature (Gen 3).

"Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:" (Job 5:17)

Chastening is not anything either God or a husband likes to do. If it is needed, that means that a wife broke a rule and endangered the unity of the house by being disobedient, by neglecting her duties or whatever. A wife should be happy that her husband takes his responsibility seriously, and it is important to spank in time, so that bad things do not become habit, and

"Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying." (Pro 19:18)

God punishes His people practically everywhere in the Old Testament, because they fell away from Him all the time. God killed His people, sent plagues or wars and even sent them into exile to make sure they understood that they had sinned against Him.

But of course the husband does not do the same things - in fact, many people go wayyyyy toooooo far with their ideas of punishment, it seems to me, but I will write about that in another blog post. God's time frame is that of many generations and not an individual life time. So His punishment far exceeds that of a husband, only the desire to lead His people into a good life and finally salvation is the same.

A husband wants to lead his family in the same way. That's why correction is so important, even if it hurts both husband and wife. But it is worth it.

"Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby." (Heb 12:11)

Chastening is much more than a physical correction. It is an act of love, it puts a sinner back on the right path.

Modified Spencer Plan

A modified Spencer Spanking Plan...will go along well with the household rules. If you don't have a well thought out set of household rules and procedures, you really should get to work. Men, put just as much (if not more) effort into running your own house well, just as you would in your job. Your family is your business, first and foremost. Have your women sign this.

Discipline Agreement for Wives and Concubines

Date ______________________ 19___

I, . ____________________________ wife of _________________________.

I do hereby acknowledge that I have read the Household Rules and Spanking Plan and approve of the doctrines it advocates. From this date on it is my wish to have my conduct regulated by the enforcement of these doctrines. I give to my husband, therefore, the full right and permission to spank me whenever he feels such discipline would prove helpful and be in accordance with the spirit of the Household Plan. This Agreement has been entered into willingly -- and for no other purpose than to improve my disposition and secure the general benefit that always comes from the enforcement of intelligent discipline. I understand that I will be spanked without fail if I break my promise to refrain from:

(List Causes)

I promise to cooperate with my husband faithfully. I will get ready for the punishment promptly when asked to do so and I will bear him absolutely no ill-will for so disciplining me.

I promise further to ASK for spankings when I feel I need them. I realize that Request Punishment plays a highly important part in the Spencer Plan, and I will report and ask for the discipline when I feel need or deserve it.

Punishable Offense?

OK, so we laid a basic foundation yesterday for the need of a strong hand in the Christian Home, and for the need sometimes for a man to discipline his wife. This assume of course that the wife is agreeable to this, and many are for sure.

The question then becomes, what are the rules for the house, and what broken rules will result in the wife being spanked?

In my house the number one offense that will get you spanked is to lie. Nothing burns me up more than my woman lying to me. Unfortunately, she did last night, and so that's why I am writing about it today. Well, she is going to be disciplined tonight when I get home and she knows it.

Calling all Patriarchs

Let's face it, and face it now, Christian men. Biblically speaking, men are called to lead, women are called to be submissive and to follow their husbands lead. It's that simple.

Now that we have faced that particular truism, what about this: Men are, since Adam, inclined to kick back and scratch themselves, and women are inclined to do the leading. This comes straight from the Garden of Eden, and has continued pretty much since that time, regardless of what the feminists want us to believe.

However, this is not the way it was intended to be, and many men are waking up, taking back their proper place in the home, and leading their families in a Biblical way. There are many facets to such a responsibility. The one particular aspect we want to explore on this blog is that these fledgling patriarchs need to get a handle on their women!

Well, this blog is dedicated to exploring one of the options a biblical patriarch has when it comes to taking the lead in his family and making sure that things go according to plan. It's called Christian Domestic Discipline, or CDD for short. Most times it conjures images of a good old fashioned spanking, but could involve other things, such as a loss of privileges. I hope that others will find this blog, and share and learn and contribute to a fully Christian understanding of the role of the discipling husband.

Note* Domestic Discipline, as we are discussing it here, involves a man and his wife, who are both willing to submit theirselves to the authority placed over them. Christ over the man, the man over the woman. In no way do we advocate a man striking his wife in anger, or being abusive in any way shape or form.

Actually, there are many Christian women who actively seek a husband who is strong, and willing to take full responsibility for the family, and it sometimes includes the spanking or discipline of the wife. The wife must be willing to submit herself to her husband as the bible says she is. So I hope there are some other people out there who are interested in discussing this topic.
