A Stick

Pro 13:24 "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."

I chose a stick after all, and had my wife cut some from the maple saplings in the back yard. She brought in different sizes, one rather thick that we are certainly not going to use as it is too heavy and not flexible. I prefer a switch-type stick, like the one you see on the picture, so I peeled off the bark and gave it a smooth surface.

So there we go - easy to come by, easy to replace, and suited to our needs.
