CDD is not something for just any man. It takes a certain type of male to be able to handle the female in the way they need to be handled, and all the more so if there is more than one female. This type of man is a natural leader. One who is designed by the creator to take dominion. Aggressive and testosterone filled.
This is also the type of man who might very well need more than one female, due to his dominion oriented, take charge ways.
God has designed the male to be able to fertilize willing females as long as possible. The more females available the better the male is able to get the job done. The fewer the females (as in monogamy) the longer it takes. It's a matter of novelty. Novelty breeds excitability.
A good wife should always be on the lookout for additional females to add to the family, and will actively seek to recruit them so that she, like Leah, might be able to say one day "God has given me my reward because I gave my slave to my husband."
Think of maidservants, housekeepers, and the proverbial baby sitter.
The goal of polygamy is to produce a large number of progeny. This is the best and most natural way to take dominion and to replenish the earth. In fact, we may need to replenish the earth again here real soon so it's best to get into the habit now. Act instead of react.
